INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT TISSUE MASSAGE (IASTM)

IASTM or “Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Massage” is a technique that uses a range of tools to effectively locate and treat soft tissue injuries.  This same technique is more commonly referred to as the Graston technique.  The main purpose of IASTM is multi-factorial in it’s approach and includes the breakdown of capillary beds to help normalize the build-up of scar tissue to promote healing.  Common injuries IASTM is used to treat include muscle strains, ligament sprains, post-op scars/incisions, tendinitis, tendinosus, and tendinopathy.  Your physical therapist at Prime Physical Therapy & Sports Care is certified in IASTM which allows for proper application into a well rounded rehabilitation program!

CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping Therapy has been used for a long time across the world and dates to the ancient Egyptians, Middle Eastern and Chinese cultures. At times we commonly use cupping with our athletes to help treat muscle spasms, decrease pain, and temporarily improve circulation and range of motion.
